U.S.-based advanced materials and semiconductor equipment company Forge Nano has completed its business combination with Archimedes Tech SPAC Partners II Co., marking its transition to a publicly traded company. The combined entity, Forge Nano Holdings, Inc., is expected to begin trading on the Nasdaq under the ticker symbols NANO and NANOW.

Forge Nano has built its reputation around Atomic Armor®, a proprietary Atomic Layer Deposition (ALD) technology platform that enables ultra-thin nanoscale coatings on materials and components. The company’s Atomic Armor coating technology has been applied to metal powders used in additive manufacturing processes, helping address challenges such as oxidation, flowability, powder reuse, alloy development, and material consistency.

The company has also demonstrated how ALD coatings can enhance feedstocks for powder-based additive manufacturing, including titanium, copper, tungsten, and aluminum alloys. By engineering powder surfaces at the nanoscale, manufacturers can improve powder handling characteristics, extend material life cycles, and potentially unlock the use of materials that are traditionally difficult to process in additive manufacturing environments.

The focus on semiconductor manufacturing equipment and advanced battery materials

Today, the company is primarily focused on two strategic markets: semiconductor manufacturing equipment and advanced battery materials for commercial and defense applications.

According to the company, access to public capital markets will support its next phase of growth as it scales manufacturing capabilities and expands commercial deployment of its technologies.

The SPAC merger follows an expanded semiconductor manufacturing footprint in Taiwan, progress in high-aspect-ratio wafer coating capabilities, a strengthened relationship with Samsung SDI, a joint development agreement with Nanexa, and the construction of a battery gigafactory in North Carolina.

“Becoming a publicly traded company represents an important milestone for Forge Nano and the team that has spent more than a decade building this company,” said CEO Paul Lichty. “We founded Forge Nano around the belief that controlling materials at the atomic level could fundamentally improve how the world’s most important technologies are made.”

Although additive manufacturing is no longer the centerpiece of Forge Nano’s public messaging, the company’s expertise in materials engineering and surface modification continues to intersect with key challenges faced by metal AM users.
