ExOne Scout provides real-time machine monitoring and analysis of production 3D printers

With the goal of streamlining production for its binder jetting systems, ExOne has been developing digital workflow solutions that will ensure everything goes well in a production process, from the digital file until the part is finished. One of these solutions the company unveils today is ExOne Scout, a secure Industry 4.0 app, that ensures real-time monitoring and analysis of production 3D printers on a wide range of digital devices, including smart phones and watches.

It’s been a long time that operators have been looking for solutions that would have allowed them to monitor the additive production workflow remotely. Over time, a wide range of solutions have been deployed but having a dedicated solution that has been designed for the specific 3D printer an operator uses leads to less issues in the interoperability of all devices.

With the Industry 4.0 app, operators can have live insights and analysis of what’s happening in the production workflow, enhanced quality assurance and benefit from full reporting capabilities of the production process. In the long run, the company’s R&D will develop other versions of the app that will enable layer monitoring and analysis by camera, as well as other artificial intelligence and analysis features.

ExOne Scout is an important step forward as we work to deliver on our vision for smart and sustainable 3D printing technology at production volumes,” said John Hartner, ExOne CEO. “We plan to surround our high-speed binder jet 3D printers with a complete end-to-end digital workflow in the future. While our 3D printers remain the centerpiece, we’re looking to streamline the entire sequence of digital manufacturing around our systems with automation, software and remote monitoring and controls. ExOne Scout is a step toward delivering a complete digital manufacturing package.”

The launch of ExOne Scout comes at the right moment as the binder jetting specialist has launched a  Sand 3D Printing Network powered by over 40 Industrial Binder Jetting Systems. The new app will be a great benefit for both this network as well as existing and future customers of the company.
