As a construction group, it was clear that if BESIX entered the 3D printing industry, the company would have dedicated its activities to construction 3D Printing, and that’s what it did.
Three years ago, Besix launched its internal innovation program, in collaboration with a range of qualified players in Belgium: Ghent University, ResourceFull (start-up that specializes in sustainability), SIKA (concrete admixtures specialist) and Witteveen+Bos (engineering company).
The new team led by Jonas Vandeven firstopened a 3D Printing studio in Dubai, and today, the Belgian Construction Group officially launches BESIX 3D, its recently created division that specializes in 3D concrete printing.
3D concrete printing increasingly attracts the construction industry. With the capability to produce full-scale construction and architectural components, construction 3D Printing provides benefits such as shorter construction time, safer working environment, higher freedom in shape, less waste and lower CO2 emissions.
“BESIX 3D combines the engineering and construction capabilities of a large and regionally established contractor, with the agility of a specialized team in the 3DCP technology”, said the company.
Ten decades after its creation, BESIX has positioned itself as a true giant in the construction industry. With this new sector of activity, we might expect the company to reach another milestone in the construction industry.
