BEAMIT has signed a letter of intent to purchase 15 Selective Laser Melting machines from SLM Solutions. The purchase will be carried out throughout the next three years.

The announcement shows the trust the Italian service provider has in Selective Laser Melting. More importantly, it demonstrates the capabilities of SLM Solutions machines, that officially becomes its preferred supplier.

Indeed, in 2019, BEAMIT had already added two machines from the German manufacturer to its portfolio. Together, they are also working on some material properties for the nickel-based alloys IN939 and IN718.

This time, BEAMIT will acquire various types of industrial 3D printing systems from SLM Solutions, including SLM®280, SLM®500 and SLM®800. According to the Italian company, the multi-laser technology leads to higher productivity and its closed-loop powder handling enables reliable, efficient and safe production of dense parts.

Through the replacement of single laser products with SLM Solutions` multi-laser technology we are able to increase our productivity and provide competitive pricing to our customers, comments Mauro Antolotti, Chairman and Founder of BEAMIT. He further emphasizes: “By partnering with SLM Solutions, we can meet our customer`s requirements to build high quality parts at increased productivity and expand our facilities.” Furthermore, if BEAMIT is stronger than ever with Sandvik as a shareholder, it should be noted that the company’s commitment to foster the adoption of AM in various industries has proved its worth: today, the plant is more than twice the size of the previous space.

As for SLM Solutions, that’s definitely a great way to dive into 2020. At the beginning of the year, the company’s CEO Meddah Hadjar affirmed they still have work to do. No matter what battles they have to fight, this announcement definitely shows they have taken the right first steps towards a long-term successful year.
