3iD, a 3D printing service bureau in Belgium relies on AMIS Pro software to streamline its batches that are meant to be produced on HP MJF 3D printers. In collaboration with multiple HP MJF users, AMIS started to create its build preparation solution “AMIS Pro.”

As a reminder, the first public beta version was released in May 2024. It aims to help AM users add parts to a batch/print box, position-orient-scale the parts, nest the parts, slice the batch, and create output for a 3D printer over others.

The AMIS software is designed for jetting technology, a focus that makes sense  given the decade-old jetting software experience from its parent holding – “Hybrid Software Group.”

The AMIS MD, Kris Binon explains, “AMIS now nests any 1500 parts in an MJF Build Box in under one minute, with a 14% nesting density. This is over 50% denser than the benchmark, which takes about 10 minutes to reach 8 – 9% nesting density. Our current solution integrates many features specifically tweaked to the needs of 3iD and similar companies. Without entrepreneurs like Dave, we wouldn’t be where we are now.”

AMIS Pro version 2 will be officially revealed at Formnext 2024. 3iD collaborated in this process since the beginning of 2024. The company said that AMIS Pro will be the tool they incorporate to build their batches using their 3 HP MJF printers.

3iD CEO Dave Vanhove said, “The nesting algorithm is astonishing; we gain more time here and can nest much denser now. This has an immediate impact on our Cost-Per-Part. Of course, you have full control over manipulating individual parts and all the usual features like shelling, lattices, etcetera. And we end up with a perfect 3mf file that we can forward to the HP MJF printer.”

AMIS Pro was unveiled in early 2024, and its version 1.5 outclassed other upgraded nesting and part transfers to the next batch launched on September 16, 2024. At Formnext 2024, additional Cost-Per-Part-focused specifications are set to be launched.
