3D Systems enhances its Quickparts service, which will offer metal and plastic prototypes in a relatively short time (1 day).
According to the South Carolina based company, users simply have to upload a CAD file on their website in order to receive an instant quote.
For Eric Tyson, mechanical designer at Dorman Thoughts, a spare parts’ supplier, the Quickparts service “provides a quality solution for getting prototypes and small run production parts fast.”Â
In terms of software and user experience, the service offers direct access with clearly defined features that eases the download and offers a pricing model that varies according to the defined process, selected hardware, colours or even finishes.
For Phil Schultz, on the other hand, one of the managers of On Demand Solutions at 3D Systems “Many of [their]customers need instantaneous help with design challenges, materials, and processes, while others need a simple way to validate their design. This new customer experience allows customers to quickly and easily bring their designs to life by creating and building parts from prototyping to production.”
Like the other services, this prototyping service was implemented following an increasing demand from users. Other services of 3D Systems include stereolithography (SLA), Selective Laser Sintering (SLS), Direct Metal Printing (DMP), Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM) and Color Jet Printing (CJP).
