3D starship printing is now available for Star Trek Online

Perfect World Entertainment Inc., a leading publisher of free-to-play MMORPGs, and Cryptic Studios have made the announcement today.

The good news is that it is possible to deliver anywhere around the world these resin starship collectibles. Furthermore, base pricing will begin at $200, and it will depend on size and customization options.

Star Trek Online: the offer

Star Trek is until now, one of the rare, if not, the only free-to-play MMORPG that enables fans to become a captain and discover this universe from within.

Over 500 starships hailing from the United Federation of Planets, Klingon Defense Force and Romulan Empire factions…are proposed. Furthermore, fans will be excited when they will realize that most of them are directly captured from the franchise’s most popular films and televisions shows.

Star Trek Online’s editor also gives captains numerous options to customize their own starships, allowing them to select their own ship names and registry numbers, choose from a variety of colors and shield skins, plus add entire ship sections like nacelles and saucers.

3D printing in the story

We did not receive much information about the manufacturing process. However, we do know that 3D printing will be combined with the hand craftsmanship from a team of artists.

After the ships’ customization in the PC version of Star Trek Online, users or fans could upload their design directly to the GamePrint website.
