The upcoming TCT Show that will take place in Birmingham from September 24th to 26th is raising the bar with several new launches.

First, as part of this edition of the event, Rapid News has launched a new user-led conference packed of talks and panel sessions on the latest cutting-edge applications, materials, and processes across aerospace, automotive, rail, healthcare, and business sectors. Called TCT Summit, the programme of this sub-event consists in five streams that are designed to impart expert knowledge, inspire conversation and connect the design and manufacturing communities.

In addition to the TCT Summit, Rapid News has also added the TCT Connect to this edition of the show. Sponsored by Hewlett Packard, TCT Connect will allow participants to arrange 1-2-1 meetings and network; to share and interact in a secure and efficient way, allowing participants to maximise their time at the show by pre-arranging meetings.

Other networking opportunities include the introduction of a networking event on the first night as well as a dedicated VIP lounge. Participants will have more opportunities than ever to grow their networks and create more successful business relationships.

Attendees to this year’s TCT Summit will see more than 20 educational, CPD-certified, presentations from the innovators, facilitators, and champions, shaping the design-tomanufacturing industry. But with access to the TCT Summit including hosted networking events, access to the high-level meetings programme and attendance at the industry’s Awards night, TCT Summit is much more than passive learning — it’s truly an opportunity to immerse yourself in an industry.”

Focus on students

Students are not often the main priority of organizers during industry events like this one. Rapid News is changing this perspective by implementing a specific 3D Printing experience for them.

Indeed, a collaboration with CREATE Education leads to “TCT Inspired Minds Classroom”, an interactive additive manufacturing experience that consists in introducing school children to the world of 3D printing, to TCT Show 2019.

Students in years nine and ten will have a 3 hour-session to delve into the real of AM. Three parts will shape their programme:

The first component will feature talks from industry leaders giving students the opportunity to learn about the most innovative new technology in the industry. Then the tables will turn as the students challenge the ‘Inspiration Panel’ and pose their own questions to the experts.

Led by Autodesk trained instructors, the second component will give students an introduction to CAD design skills using Autodesk Fusion 360. The students will be set a challenge to design and model elements to fit within a brief before learning how to slice and 3D print their models using Ultimaker 3D printing equipment.

Ending with a bang, the last part of the experience will give the students a taste of the real thing as they tour TCT Show 2019. Here, they will have the opportunity to connect and interact with over 250 exhibitors.

At CREATE Education, providing access and inspiration are part of the core values of our organisation and so being able to deliver the Inspired Minds classroom for the 3rd year running is a one of the most important events in our calendar. Engaging the students through our community of Ambassadors from education and industry provides us with the opportunity to open their eyes to future career options for 3D Printing and also how the technology has and will have a real impact on daily life socially and in a wide range of professions. Using equipment provided by HP and models provided by Rolls-Royce the Inspired Minds sessions will give students an introduction to CAD using Autodesk Fusion 360. The Rolls-Royce Jet Engine models is a fantastic introduction to design thinking and really sparks creativity. Sustainable recycled PLA from Filamentive will be used to 3D print all of the designs so that the students have a tangible memory from their day.” Michelle Chatterley – Head of CREATE Education.
