What we learned from the Additive Talks (Part 2)

Another key panel that was held during the Additive Talks Day was the “relationship between Sustainability & Additive Manufacturing”.

It’s been a few years now that we have been observing a growing wave of global protests and increased political and social focus around sustainability. The issue has become vital for the manufacturing environment because the more engineering innovations there are, the more sustainability concerns are growing.

We had a fantastic discussion with Sherry Handel from the Additive Manufacturer Green Trade Association, Björn Hannapel from EOS and Eric De Zeuww from Materialise. We discussed this topic with three objectives in mind:

  • Identify the different levels where sustainability comes into play in an additive manufacturing (production) environment or within a company
  • Identify the various ways, AM companies can address sustainability in their company
  • Identify the key benefits for AM users and determine if AM companies can play a role in helping AM users integrate sustainability measures.
