Volkmann vLoader 250-D powder handling equipment with the vDryer module.

The vDryer vacuum drying module from metal powder handling equipment manufacturer Volkmann USA restores metal 3D printing powders that have absorbed moisture to a uniform, defined moisture level before delivery to additive manufacturing equipment.

This optional vacuum drying module for the vLoader 250 powder conveyor sits upstream of one or more 3D printers. It gently removes absorbed moisture without heat to improve flowability and support printed component quality. It also helps reduce the need for time- and labor-intensive post-processing operations.

The inline vDryer features Volkmann’s proprietary electric vacuum pump technology. It uses gentle suction to efficiently remove moisture without exposing the temperature-sensitive powders to elevated temperatures. The conditioned powder promotes smooth material transfer. It also helps reduce agglomeration, caking, particle adherence, contamination, and other moisture-related issues that can negatively impact production efficiency.

Compatible with additive manufacturing equipment from virtually any printer manufacturer, the vDryer is suitable for drying stainless steel, aluminum, titanium, nickel-chromium alloys, copper, cobalt, tungsten, silver, iron and other metal powders, as well as alumina.

The vacuum dryer integrates seamlessly into Volkmann’s automated, closed-loop powder handling systems. Volkmann also offers it as a standalone solution for applications requiring dedicated powder drying.
