VIDEO: Here is the First 3D Printed Retractable Bridge Unveiled In Shanghai

A 3D printed retractile bridge has recently been unveiled in Shanghai, China. The bridge is 9-meter-long, 1.5-meter-wide and 1.1-meter-high, weighing only 850 kilograms. It is said to be the first of its kind in the country.

A total of 36 triangle panels have been 3D printed along the two sides of the bridge, each of them featuring a different design. The manufacture of these panels require three days to be completed, using an environmentally friendly composite material called carbonate polyester.

According to Global Times, the “operator can open the bridge via Bluetooth within one minute, and it can hold up to 20 people at a time, with a gravity automatic warning system, according to the designer.”
