Air filtration expert ULT AG is introducing a new version of its ULT 200.1 mobile extraction and filtration series, built around a reconfigured filter set that the company says raises pollutant storage capacity roughly eightfold without changing the unit’s footprint.
The panel pre-filter now offers 4 m² of surface area against 0.5 m² in the standard version, while the activated carbon volume rises from 1 kg to 8 kg. According to ULT AG, the result is a longer filter service life and fewer filter changes.
The filtration chain itself is not drastically different from what existing users already know: An ISO 16890-compliant panel pre-filter captures 80% of particles below 1 µm at the first stage. This would extend the life of the H14 main filter.
The system comes with a HEPA filter compliant with DIN EN 1822 and an adsorption stage with a substantial activated carbon bed for gases and odors. The company reports exhaust air with a fine dust content below 0.005%.
The modular side of the platform is unchanged. The 200.1 can carry up to four extraction elements, including arms or hoses in DN 50, 75 and 80. Integrated constant negative pressure control adjusts extraction performance to the number of capture points in use and, ULT says, automatically compensates for pressure losses as filters load. A dedicated accessories portfolio is available directly from the manufacturer.
Unlike the gas-tight gas purification system for metal 3D printing which deals with condensate and reactive metal residue under controlled atmosphere conditions, the 200.1 is an ambient air machine, mobile, capturing fumes and dust at the source through arms and hoses.
Each new addition to ULT’s portfolio somehow reminds us that a filter change often is unplanned downtime plus a handling event involving hazardous material.
For AM users running polymer post-processing, laser marking or finishing cells, the question is how often someone has to open a loaded filter housing.
