Securing $4M to automating Additive Manufacturing: AM-FLOW’s journey is getting exciting

Big challenges require appropriate resources and what do you do when you lack these resources? You rely on people that believe in your capabilities. That’s exactly what AM-FLOW is experiencing.

The Dutch start-up has just secured a $4 million series A investment round backed by investors and AM industry leaders such as Materialise  (Leuven, Belgium), Midwest Prototyping (Blue Mounds, USA) and Innovatiefonds Noord-Holland (Amsterdam, Netherlands), as well as existing investors Miller Turner and DOEN Participaties.

The next plan of the AM company is to provide step-change automation, heading for the Lights Out Factory of the future. AM-FLOW delivers AI based computer vision, motion and robotics solutions to process 3D-printed parts at unprecedented speed and efficiency levels.

“We are delighted to welcome our new investors, and I would like to thank our existing shareholders for their continued support. This strong syndicate of high-tech investors validates our approach and the funding enables us to expand our solution portfolio and market presence”, Stefan Rink enthuses.

AM-FLOW is addressing a different issue than its fellow companies. And that issue lies in the infinite variety of geometries which raises hurdles when it comes to identifying, sorting, quality control, handling, transporting and packaging automation for 3D-printing.

The company therefore offers a solution whose most tangible strength is a machine learning and Industry 4.0 approach that allows for modular solutions throughout the process.

This new funding has also been made possible thanks to the support of customers who have already recognized their value. As Carlos Zwikker, the Chief Commercial Officer states:

”Where we are now wouldn’t have been possible without the support of our launching customers BMW, Shapeways, Midwest Prototyping, Oceanz, Marketiger and Materialise. We’re hugely indebted to the vision these leading companies are propagating with their sustainable, smart factories!”

The new funding proves out the company is ready to achieve their big dreams for AM and Industry 4.0 and we can’t wait to see their first applications.
