Rapid Shape and Voco have announced a new 3D printing partnership that will benefit the dental industry.

The German manufacturer of 3D printers is going to back to its roots in the medical 3D printing industry, as part of this collaboration with Voco. From the hearing aid industry to the jewellery industry, Rapid Shape is demonstrating its machines capabilities to meet several types of industries demands.

Voco on the other hand, specializes in materials for the dental industry. The family company has developed expertise in light curing plastics for restorative dentistry. In the 3D printing industry, the company is known for producing and distributing 3D-printing materials of the V-Print-family.

As part of this partnership, these materials have been certified for Rapid Shape 3D-printer. The V-Print splint, V-Print SG and V-Print model are already available for the second and third generation Rapid Shape 3D-printers. These 3D printers include the D20+, D30+, D20 II, D30 II and D40 II.

Particularities of each 3D printing material

V-Print splint enables the production of the transparent toothed rack with high flexibility as a Class IIa medical product.  V-print SG is also accredited as a Class IIa medical product and therefore indexed for direct contact with wounds. Last but not least, the V-Print model serves for the production of dental models with a high scratch resistance. It best suits for Thermoforming and stays dimensionally accurate despite heat input.

The open-system is giving our customers the possibility to choose the right material for their use. VOCO is another high-quality material partner by our side, who is enlarging and enhancing our portfolio”, explains Andreas Schultheiss, Managing Director of Rapid Shape. “We are looking forward to the development work together with VOCO to provide more validated V-Print materials for our 3D-printer.
