Additive Manufacturing User Bosch is becoming a major contributor in the AM industry.

Acknowledged as a global supplier of a wide range of technology and services across mobility solutions, industrial manufacturing, consumer goods and energy, Bosch is a real proponent of additive manufacturing.

Its activities in the field have been observed through Bosch Rexroth, the acquisition of 3D Printing systems , investments in AM companies and most recently the preparation of Ceres iAM.

The new company demonstrates the ongoing efforts of Bosch into developing the additive manufacturing industry. The announcement has not yet been made official but a source within the company has already shared a few words about the soon-to-released Ceres iAM:

Ceres iAM, a startup within grow, the independent Bosch startup platform, has developed a proprietary 3D printing method for plastic parts that combines the advantages of injection molding and 3D printing. This technology allows customers to reduce development cycle times, to get products to market faster, and to cut production costs. It plans to offer both one-off parts and small-batch runs of industrial plastic parts in injection-molded quality. As things currently stand, Ceres iAM intends to enter the market in 2020”, replied the company when we questioned them.

We already know the company is taking life within the Bosch main plant for plastic parts near Stuttgart where Bosch is currently fabricating its own range of AM systems.

Ceres iAM to address the demand for low unit number solutions

Operators are currently looking to achieve part-to-part adjustments during prototype development, obviously with reduced development time and manufacturing costs.

Ceres iAM will specifically address this demand by providing a suitable technology for small batch production.
