On the heels of Desktop Metal’s chapter 11 bankruptcy, a US court approved the acquisition of ExOne GmbH in Germany and  ExOne KK  in Japan (“ExOne”) by a US-based affiliate of Anzu Partners, a prominent industrial technology investor.

This strategic move is expected to ensure stability and consistency in operations for customers, suppliers, and employees. Following the court’s approval, which was granted without objection and is not expected to be subject to any appeals, the parties will now begin implementing the transaction.

ExOne is recognized as a flagship entity, known for its global leadership in digital sand casting with a strong focus on the foundry industry. As part of the transaction, Anzu has expressed a strong commitment to ensuring continuity across operational areas.

With this acquisition, ExOne’s customers and suppliers can expect consistent service and continuous collaboration, with existing relations, agreements, and service standards upheld. Eric Bader will continue in his role as managing director for ExOne GmbH, and Ken Yokoyama will continue as managing director for ExOne KK.

Since 1995, ExOne has been on a mission to deliver powerful industrial 3D printing solutions for castings and beyond – solutions that enable innovations,” said Eric Bader, ExOne GmbH’s Managing Director. “Our industrial binder jet sand 3D printers are the world’s most trusted systems that drive customer loyalty worldwide. We are excited to continue building on that foundation and driving the future of digital casting.”

Whitney Haring-Smith, Managing Partner at Anzu Partners, outlined the company’s strategic intentions regarding this acquisition: “We recognize the strength of ExOne’s customer and supplier relationships. Our priority is to ensure stability, honor existing commitments, and continue building trusted partnerships as we move forward together.”

For customers seeking to order products, spare parts, or consumables, the existing point of contact will remain the same.
