The goldsmith and jewellery industry is ready to take a decisive step into the future with the debut of The Vicenza Symposium, taking place from September 2 to 4, 2025, in the exclusive setting of the Palladian Basilica in Vicenza. This new international platform—dedicated to professionals, academics, and industry leaders—will explore the technological evolution and new production paradigms shaping the jewellery and goldsmith sectors. A true engine of innovation, the Symposium will open the season of Vicenzaoro (September 5–9) by anticipating key trends. Three thematic areas will structure the event: innovation and advanced processes, quality and finishing, as well as sustainability and regulations.
AI for creativity and efficiency
Among the highlights is AI, now central to the industry’s transformation. From design automation to predictive defect analysis and process optimization, AI is revolutionizing workflows. An innovative case study will showcase smart machines for gemstone setting—capable of replicating artisan gestures with extreme accuracy. “Innovation should empower, not replace craftsmanship,” says Damiano Zito, President of The Vicenza Symposium. “Tradition evolves when equipped with the right tools.”
AM and the new crafting frontier
Another major focus is 3D printing, especially Selective Laser Melting (SLM) and Binder Jetting technologies applied to gold and platinum. These methods allow for customized, sustainable production with reduced waste and enhanced finish quality. Research presented will compare these with traditional casting and highlight how 3D printing also contributes to lowering environmental impact—a rising priority in the industry.
Optics, software, and quality
Advanced optical solutions, new laser technologies, and AI-based quality control tools will also be featured. These systems improve surface finishing and help even small manufacturers detect issues early, reducing waste and enhancing reliability—key to remaining competitive.
Three days of knowledge and innovation
The Symposium will feature 21 international speakers in 7 daily sessions, with interactive Q&A moments that encourage knowledge sharing among a global community of experts.
With its future-oriented vision, The Vicenza Symposium aims to become a global hub where technology enhances tradition, and where craftsmanship meets innovation.
