The LEGO Icons Venetian Neighborhood set (11388) includes a 3D printed street piano that plays a melody when the flower bouquet on top is turned. To our knowledge, it is the second 3D printed element in a retail LEGO set. The 5,682-piece set is listed on LEGO.com at $549.99.

Venice has long been defined by the sounds that fill its streets and canals: gondoliers singing under bridges, café orchestras on St. Mark’s Square, church bells drifting over the lagoon. LEGO is now enabling lovers of this city and/or its community to experience the beauty of that city through its latest LEGO® Sets for adults: the LEGO® Icons Venetian Neighborhood.

What draws our attention to the product page is a 3D-printed street piano.

A 3D printed piano that can play

In the blog post presenting the set, LEGO describes a street piano that “sits ready to perform” next to an olive tree: you “turn the flower bouquet on top and it plays a melody.”

LEGO has not disclosed which printing process or material it used for the piano, nor how the mechanism produces sound.

The first 3D printed element to reach a mass-produced LEGO set was a small functional train in the LEGO Icons Holiday Express Train, which LEGO unveiled in 2025. That piece was produced on an EOS system with Fine Detail Resolution (FDR), a powder-based polymer process. Ronen Hadar, Senior Director, Additive Design & Manufacturing at LEGO, explained at the time that it combined several LEGO connectors with an internal functionality only possible with additive manufacturing.

The piano certainly follows that principle. It is an element with a built-in function that would likely be difficult to produce as a standard molded piece. Even though the piano remains one element among 5,682 pieces of the entire set, the move from a train to a playable instrument indicates the toy brand increasingly leverages additive manufacturing for more complex features.

The Venetian Neighborhood will be released on November 4, 2026.
