The company plans to cover conventional manufacturing processes within its platform.
This looks like a good year for SaaS startup 3D Spark, that raised €2 million in its latest seed funding round. The announcement follows the extension of a partnership with Austrian Federal Railways ÖBB.
The company secured €1.2M in a seed round for the first time in 2023 – bringin the total of its capital to €3.2M.
On the product front, the company will use this funding to further develop its technology. The team plans to include broader conventional manufacturing methods like casting, milling, sheet metal fabrication, etc., establishing this way, a “technology-agnostic platform”.
Enhancements to their marketplace feature will bridge the gap between enterprises and their qualified suppliers by showing instant, indicative supplier pricing for seamless RFQ management, dramatically streamlining procurement efforts.
While any company should strive to make its business profitable, the idea of including conventional manufacturing processes – rather than the other way around as it used to be – may indicate that AM alone is insufficient to ensure strong profitability.
As a reminder, 3D Spark’s AI-supported platform simplifies complex manufacturing decisions by providing manufacturability analysis, accurate costing analysis, smart quoting with indicative market pricing from qualified suppliers, and CO₂ footprint reporting. By covering diverse materials (metals, polymers, ceramics) and supporting over 15 manufacturing technologies – including additive and conventional processes – the platform stands out as a versatile and indispensable tool for manufacturing enterprises.
The funding will also enable significant team growth, expanding technical expertise, and enhancing sales and customer success capabilities to support increased market demand and customer onboarding.
The investment was led by Sweden-based investor Triplefair and supported by existing investors Fraunhofer Technologie-Transfer Fonds (FTTF) and Innovationsstarter Fonds Hamburg (IFH),
