3D printing saves a bald eagle’s life

Among all the sectors in which the additive manufacturing has proven its worth, one does not always hear about its impact in animals’ lives.

Today, 3D printing is at the service of animals. A bald eagle which was shot illegally by a poacher lost its beak.

Its veterinarian and an engineer designed a 3D-shaped beak whose construction process is based on an aerospace manufacturing program. With a metal mount to support the device that is installed on its beak, the bird can again make full use of its beak.
