3D printing companies Stratasys and Dassault Systèmes will team up with Easton LaChappelle will take part in Unlimited Tomorrow initiattive which consists in developing and producing 3D printed prosthetics.
Unlimited Tomorrow combines 3D technologies and machine learning to provide amputees next-generation affordable artificial limbs. Stratasys and Dassault Systèmes aim to reinforce the company’s current and evolving investments in corporate social responsibility.
The manufacturing of prosthetics: traditional techniques vs new techniques
Standard prosthetic models are often heavy, cumbersome and expensive – costing recipients a minimum of $20,000 per device to upwards of $100,000. Investing such money on children is not often given to every parent. Unlimited Tomorrow therefore targets key points of customization, weight and cost.
Placing the recipient first, the organization builds intuitive, scalable models to engineer custom devices from start to finish. Revolutionizing the process/supply chain, Unlimited Tomorrow also taps into digital, scanning and 3D printing technologies to streamline development and reduce multiple fittings – minimizing the impact to each patient.
Stratasys and Dassault Systèmes’ involvement
One can understand the commitment of both suppliers since the program’s dedicated to 3D printing and CAD/CAE providers.
Stratasys’ PolyJet expert team will take part in the program of development and production of prosthesis using its 3D printing solutions for healthcare.
As for Dassault Systèmes, thanks to its SOLIDWORKS applications, Unlimited Tomorrow will exploit the 3D design and engineering portfolio to facilitate an integrated design-to-creation process. Indeed, the software facilitates collaboration and idea-sharing for rapidly-made and more cost-effective devices for recipients.
In keeping with Unlimited Tomorrow’s promise to empower people, the organization has chosen Indiegogo’s platform for current equity fundraising efforts.
