Sketchfab launches a new 3D Model Marketplace

6 months after BETA, Sketchfab launched a new 3D model marketplace. Just as Beta, this platform will enable a community of about 1.5 million designers to monetize their work. 3D models from animation and visual effects to video games, 3D printing, virtual reality, augmented reality and architectural renderings are available on the marketplace.

What changed?

The “Model Inspector’’. This option enables every angle of a 3D model, including textures and topology, to be reviewed in real-time. The aim of the company is to enable the user to buy with a full confidence. The Sketchfab viewer also supports VR and AR out of the box, providing additional ways to check out the store’s content.

Furthermore, based on feedback from users, a new model page layout for store models has been integrated. It allows to sell content and surface the information that’s relevant to buyers.

Since its creation in 2012, more than 3 million 3D models have been shared not only through the platform, but also through more than 200 sharing integrations (including Blender, Adobe, Facebook, Twitter, Reddit and many others).

The launch of the store is a natural next step for the company, allowing 3D content creators to seamlessly integrate 3D models uploaded by the Sketchfab community into their virtual worlds without attribution.

We are now looking forward to receiving your feedback on this update. Do not hesitate to share them with us.
