KAM benefits from new capital investments, John Murray’s expertise as President and new equipment

Launched at the beginning of the year, KAM for Keselowski Advanced Manufacturing provides the industry with manufacturing services using advanced manufacturing technologies. The company of the former driver of F1 racecars is growing at fast pace and announced new capital investments alongside the appointment of John Murray as president.

With decades of experience in additive manufacturing, Murray has driven additive manufacturing heavily into the European and U.S. motorsports segments. Murray’s work has had a direct impact on the design and testing of F1 racecars. He will now oversee global business development and expansion of KAM’s technical capabilities.

The addition of John Murray to our team elevates us to the next level,” said KAM owner and CEO, Brad Keselowski.  “His leadership, combined with our latest growth investments enhance our vision of quality, speed and innovation through our people and resources.”

I’ve had the pleasure of meeting and working with Brad for the past year and a half,” said Murray.  “During this time, I’ve witnessed him take KAM from a dream to reality.  I’ve visited countless businesses all over the world who are using additive manufacturing.  Brad’s tenacious obsession with speed in everything he does is like nothing else I’ve ever experienced.  It’s an honor to work side by side with him to blaze this exciting path forward in hybrid design and manufacturing.”

In addition to strengthening the leadership team, in the past three months, KAM has added 2 metal 3D Printers (aluminum and Inconel) to its portfolio as well as expanded measurement and test capabilities via a coordinate measuring machine (CMM) and a tensile strength tester providing enhanced measurement and material mechanical capabilities. The company will also take advantage of a CNC precision saw that could serve both for additive and subtractive technologies.

The 70,000 sq. ft. facility also continues expansion of its robust Mazak CNC platform utilizing Big Kaiser tool holding technology and customized production systems.  Simultaneously, construction has begun on a state-of-the-art engineering center that is targeted to be finished in Q3 of 2019.  The goal of this center is to increase the effectiveness of KAM’s investments in engineering resources, engineering software platforms, simulations tools and product development to drive disruptive solutions in the marketplace.

Keselowski is energized by the growth. “We’ve moved really fast as a company,” he said.  “From the time we opened our doors, the momentum has never let up and I don’t expect it to any time soon.  Our fast-paced growth and the investment strategies across all of our resources is laying the foundation for us to scale up in the additive industry on a level that no one in the marketplace has done yet.”

Along with the addition of Murray, Steve Fetch has been promoted from general manager to chief operating officer at KAM.
