Facebook to remove content on 3D printing of guns

Facebook announced that sites that host digital blueprints of firearms will be banned from its network. The social media company is also removing content related to the creation of weapons.

This is not really a surprise since the company is simply respecting its community standards that do not allow “the purchase, sale, gifting, exchange, and transfer of firearms, including firearm parts or ammunition, between private individuals.

Sharing instructions on how to print firearms using 3D printers is not allowed under our Community Standards. In line with our policies, we are removing this content from Facebook,” the social media giant said.

However, the social media giant did not precise if it would remove only the related posts or both the host pages and accounts. An updated policy on restricted goods will be release very soon.

Let’s note that, following the US Administration’s decision to allow Cody Wilson to begin sharing digital blueprints, eight states have filed a lawsuit in order to stop its application.

We have definitely not finished to hear about this case.
