RWANDA: first step in SOLIDWORKS ‘journey in Africa
Since the 2000s, Dassault Systèmes, through SOLIDWORKS is drawing a new orientation in sub-Saharan Africa.
This journey starts in Rwanda with a commercial agreement signed with the Rwandan Minister of education. The deal consisted for SOLIDWORKS in supporting secondary schools and technical colleges by participating to different trainings and educational activities on the one hand, on the other hand, by providing required materials.
If at the beginning, the first training sessions were oriented on the use of SOLIDWORKS, the project was given a new direction in 2016 with the arrival of “Robo” and “Sindoh”, 3D printer manufacturers. Thanks to a donation of a dozen 3D printers with accurate trainings to lecturers and students, the latter is given the possibility to realize a rapid prototyping of their modelling.
Specialists of this professional field could then develop their imagination and innovating projects which better serve the needs of their environment.
As for SOLIDWORKS, this is just the first step in a journey that will enable them to bring the exact same support to other sub-Saharan African countries.
