A new collaboration will enable Praxair Surface Technologies and BEAMIT will improve the use of additive manufacturing in the aviation industry.
Praxair is acknowledged for several types of services including powders and gases the company can supply to the additive manufacturing industry. Praxair Surface Technologies is a company of Praxair Group. The company specializes in advanced coating solutions that improve component performance, resulting in better performance and an extended life. BEAM IT on the other hand is the largest 3D printing service provider in Italy.
The company that has recently become a company of Sandvik, metallic powders producer, will improve its metal AM offering with advanced coating solutions, materials and dedicated equipment from Praxair Surface Technologies.
In general, coating solutions include spraying, brushing, dipping or lacquering the part before polishing to obtain a smooth surface on the 3D printed part. This solution increasingly attracts professionals not only because it has proven its capabilities in delivering the desired end-3D printed component, but also because it is relatively inexpensive.
Furthermore, metal coating is a tangible example for the functionalization process as it enables improved scratch resistance, antimicrobial properties and the application of many features.
