AddUp strengthens its offering in the automotive market thanks to Poly-Shape, provider of 3D Printing services

AddUp has announced this morning a project to acquire a majority stake in the French company Poly‐Shape.

Until now, the joint-venture of Group Fives and Michelin, was acknowledged for its support in the medical industry (the development of the CARMAT’s heart) and its metal 3D printing solutions.

A growing interest in the automotive industry

Founded in 2007 by Stéphane Abed, Poly‐Shape specializes in design services and the production of parts using metal additive manufacturing. Tooling, aeronautics, the medical and energy sectors, and more specifically the motor sports sector, are part of the industries that are at the heart of the activities of the French company.

Active on 4 sites in France (Salon‐de‐Provence, Saint‐Pierre‐du‐Perray and Le Coudray‐Montceaux) and on one site in Carpi – Italy, the company also integrates post‐treatment equipment.

AddUp will also be able to reinforce its support offer in assessing the opportunities offered by 3D printing (AddUpThink and AddUpStart services offer) with new production capacities of POC (Proof of Concept) parts including post‐treatment and additional finishing.

Furthermore, clients will have access to a multi‐supplier, multitechnology, multi‐material and multi‐application test platform that will enable them to better evaluate the technological solution that best meets their production needs.

Lastly, this collaboration will enable AddUp to improve its offering by benefiting from the expertise of Poly‐Shape’s teams in the production of metal 3D printed components on the one hand; on the other hand, by receiving immediate feedback from Poly-Shape that already uses its machines.
